Gaddafi: Algeria justify the reception of his close

The Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia Sunday defended his country's decision to host close to Muammar Gaddafi. While this initiative has met with protests from the Libyan rebels, the head of the Algerian government has assured that it was "a humanitarian case as part of the treatment with Algeria other humanitarian cases." He also said they were under the protection of the Algerians.

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had said last Monday that "the wife of Muammar Gaddafi, Safyia his daughter Aisha, Muhammad's son Hannibal and, accompanied by their children had gone to Algeria to 8:45 by the Algerian-Libyan border." Consequence of the ad: the relations between Algiers and the National Transitional Council (CNT), the political arm of the rebellion Jamahiriya, already strained since the conflict began in Libya, were immediately poisoned. The representative of the CNT in London, Al-Gamaty Guma, had found "very unwise" behavior of the neighboring country. He reiterated the charges, though strongly denied several times by Algiers but also by Washington and Paris, sending mercenaries to support the former Libyan strongman against the rebellion.

The Gaddafi family members currently residing in Algeria are "under the responsibility of the Algerians," said Ahmed Ouyahia Sunday. "The Libyans themselves have said and asked us to consider them as Algerians." Algerian Prime Minister also recalled that "leaders of other countries have already been met without creating this hype," citing the case of members of the family of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein or receipt by Saudi Arabia Tunisian President Ben Ali deposed and his family since January 14.
