Egypt tries to calm things down after clashes in Cairo

In the wake of the clashes that took place at the Israeli Embassy in Cairo, Egypt Saturday formally expressed his "total commitment" to the protection of diplomatic missions on its soil. To do so, a full implementation of the Emergency Law to ensure security should be established.

These statements were made by the Minister of Information Osama Heikal speaking after a meeting between the leaders of the army, head of the country since the fall of President Hosni Mubarak in February, and the Crisis of the Government of Prime Minister Essam Sharaf.

The meeting was called because it is a symbolic place of peace concluded in 1979 between Israel and Egypt that was attacked. Protesters have indeed invaded the Israeli Embassy on Friday evening in Cairo, following clashes that killed nearly 1,000 wounded and two dead. A third person died of a heart attack.
