A Moroccan young won first prize in the International Qur'an recitation in Qatar

Moroccan child Abdelbassit Abdelfattah Warachit won the grand prize of the international competition of reciting the Holy Qur'an, organized by Al Jazeera Children's Channel and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of the State of Qatar for young boys and girls, September to December year.

The young orator Morocco won the grand prize worth 100,000 riyals Qatar (Qatari Riyal 1 = two dirhams) during a ceremony Friday in Doha in the presence of an audience of ulema, preachers and personalities from around the globe.

Sixty three children among the 2435 participants (46 countries) have qualified for the finals of the competition aired on Al Jazeera Children's Channel throughout the month of Ramadan.

This competition is based on three criteria: compliance with rules of Tajweed (the reading of the Qur'an chanted), the voice quality and its beauty and quality of diction and good transition between the measures.
